How Overseas Pakistanis Can Verify Unregistered SIMs

Make an Official Request to PTA

In order to get your SIM verified before the official deadline, please write a letter/email to PTA for SIM verification. Do mention your status and staying period in the country where you are residing or working right now.

In the official request to PTA, clearly mention your name, CNIC number, and place of work, mobile number and the name of the mobile operator (e.g. Mobilink, Ufone or other companies). You can send this request to simcomplaint@pta.gov.pk at your earliest.

Once PTA receives your email/letter, the regulator will forward your request to the Interior Ministry of Pakistan to take further action. Later, the Ministry will ask the concerned telecom operator to take action and keep your SIM unblocked.

This is the most feasible way to keep your SIM unblocked. An official request to the regulator (PTA) is a necessity now and it will definitely save you from the hazard of SIM blockage. Make sure you send a request at your earliest.

SIM Verification, an Uphill Task

Telecom operators have re-verified almost 53 million SIMs while another 53 million SIMs are pending for biometric re-verification. It seems, all telecom operators will lose a huge number of their active mobile customers living or working in foreign destinations, if they fail to register their SIMs through Biometric System. Losing their loyal customers will definitely affect negatively on their quarterly and yearly revenues, which they cannot accept at any cost.

On the contrary, speculations have been made that PTA may extend its official deadline on the directions of the Interior Ministry of Pakistan to ease millions of unregistered mobile users. Actually, the schedule given by the Interior Ministry for re-verification of SIMs was too packed and that they could do a lot better if given more time to accommodate their users on international roaming.

Biometric Machines at High Commissions and Consulates

There are millions of Pakistanis residing in the Middle East, EU, North America, South East Asia and Australia and they are in a desperate need for BVS facilities in accessible areas. These Pakistanis are contributing to our foreign reserves. Hence, providing a small BVS machine at Pakistani High Commissions or Consulates is not a big task for the Government.

PTA with the assistance of the Government of Pakistan can collaborate with Pakistani High Commissions and Consulates in these countries and provide BVS facilities to Overseas Pakistanis. With little assistance from PTA and mobile operators, Overseas Pakistanis can have a sigh of relief and keep their SIMs unblocked to stay connected with their friends and families in Pakistan.

Highway.pk is striving hard to get the most valuable information to its readers. Please stay connected for more updates on SIM verification for overseas Pakistanis and date extension. We hope that some better procedure will be shared soon to facilitate our overseas customers.
